Yorizane, The Gold Nut™
Y116-161-99
The Yorizane almond (Y116-161-99) is a new self-fertile variety released by the USDA as of January 2021. With high yield production, excellent vigor, and a quality nut, it’s sweeping the board on California almond varieties.
We’re calling it The Gold Nut™ for the striking golden color of the kernel and its incredible potential in the almond industry.
The variety may be new commercially, but it’s been observed in trials in Stanislaus, Madera, and Butte County since 2014 with great results. In all three trials, The Gold Nut™ showed a high yield efficiency.
The Almond Board of California has evaluated Yorizane alongside commercial varieties such as Nonpareil, Shasta, and the Bennett-Hickman, and it’s ranked equal to or better than the competition in almost every method of evaluation.
